Reza Ghotbi was first and foremost a devoted patriot and a staunch monarchist to the end. He worked tirelessly for many years to develop and support the arts & culture in Iran. His countless contributions (see BIOGRAPHY section) speak volumes, not only for those who knew him well but those who unknowingly benefited greatly from his work.
However, some misconstrued his open-mindedness (i.e. his willingness to hire talented young people regardless of their political affiliation) and misinterpreted things he did (i.e. scapegoating him for the text the Shah expressly asked him to pen for his speech announcing a change of cabinet as if all was well and without it there wouldn’t have been a Revolution).
Reza Ghotbi was an altruist who only cared for his beloved Iran. He shunned fame, fortune and had no interest in his own legacy or place in history. But time is fleeting and memory fickle, so as his daughter, I thought it my duty to create this modest posthumous website to honour his memory and present a more complete picture of this great man.
